He was the guiding light of the Tejas project upto the TD a/c which led to the Tejas Mk 1. He was brought in around 1985 as the Chief Designer & Programme Director replacing Raj Mahindra (ex-HAL HJT 16) the first Chief Designer elect  who was eased out of the post by possibly planted questions raised in Parliament- rather in the manner of Mohua Moitra’s recent questions about Adani. KH is a 1960 (?) graduate of BHU and was a Ph. D student of Prof. R. Narasimha who along with VS Arunachalam & Prof. Raja Ramanna were the main force behind the setting up of ADA to develop the LCA.
